Not Enough Room

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. – Malachi 3:10

 

Through the prophet Malachi, God accuses His own people of robbery. He asks: “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.” (Malachi 3: 8) God continues that as a result of this religious robbery: “You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.” (Malachi 3: 9) Thank God the conversation does not conclude with a curse. For, God offers us a way to reverse the curse and release His blessings.

God declares:

1. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse. The tithe is ten per cent of our income. That belongs to God. (Leviticus 27: 30) By withholding what belongs to God, we risk God withholding what He has set aside for us. 

2. Try Me now in this. First of all try Me. See if I won’t do exactly what I have said. But, but no only try Me in general, but try me in this area – the area of tithing. Many saints have tried God in the area of healing and revealing, but not so much in the area of giving. God says, try Me now.

3. I will open the windows of heaven. This commandment comes with a promise. If you are obedient and bring all of the tithe, God says, I will open the windows of heaven making this a heavenly blessing; and pour (making this an continuous blessing) you (making this a personal blessing; that there will not be room enough to receive it (making this an overflowing blessing.

What a problem to have! That is to say, being so blessed that you don’t have enough room to receive it. Remember, this is a sure promise which is tied to a tried and true practice.
